With the opening of the Terminal 1 Pier, we are taking off into the future. The building represents high-value growth and will also improve the location’s performance. As a modern premium hub, we are setting new standards for passenger experience – from efficiency and comfort to the quality of the visit.

The T1 Pier will give the Munich Airport an international connection with a regional identity – cosmopolitan, modern, and at the same time firmly anchored in Bavaria. The new terminal area is the embodiment of a strong, shared achievement.
The opening of the new Terminal 1 Pier marks a new milestone in Munich Airport’s need-based infrastructure development.
More than 5,000 people collaborated on this project, from the early planning phase to the tenant fit-outs. We had a great team within the airport, with participation from every department. And MUCreal is our realization subsidiary, which handled all of the planning and execution for the T1 Pier. All of that was only possible because we worked together. You can’t do it alone.

A complex major construction project like the T1 Pier is a highly collaborative process, largely involving external partners. Around 5,000 people from the areas of planning, construction, administration, and operation contributed to the success of this project over several years. Even though many of the companies are based near the airport, the supply chains stretch across Europe, some even extending to China and the United States. We were able to organize and manage this network despite the COVID pandemic, the effects of the war in Ukraine on material availability and prices, and various internal project challenges. We would like to thank our reliable, hard-working partners who made it possible.

The Terminal 1 Pier is the result of a seven-year construction project that was undertaken during ongoing flight operations.
Following several months of trial operation, the new Terminal 1 Pier went into regular operation on April 21, 2026. On the very first day, more than 11,000 passengers traveled through the T1 Pier, and more than 70 flights were cleared there.

The first major symbolic moment was the arrival of an American Airlines flight from Charlotte, NC. The first departure was a Delta Air Lines flight heading for Detroit, MI.
