Economic factor: how we create new values
In a comprehensive study conducted together with the agency econcept, we examined the value creation effects the airport generates for the region and beyond. The result is impressive and confirms the economic significance of Munich Airport.
According to the study, direct value creation for the airport campus amounted to 4.27 billion euros*. This represents the total value of all services and offerings produced at the airport and the associated employment, less intermediate inputs. The value creation identified 13 percent* higher than the figure from the last survey in 2018 (3.78 billion euros). Procurement of goods, services, and capital goods from third parties increased by 57 percent over the same period, corresponding to an annualized growth rate of 7.8 percent.
The value creation of Munich Airport, including the indirect and induced effects in Bavaria, results in a gross value added of 7.3 billion euros. For comparison, the total gross value added of the Free State of Bavaria amounted to 717 billion euros in 2024. This means that approximately every hundredth euro of value added generated in Bavaria is directly linked to Munich Airport.
